Faces of DC - Michele Egan
Meet 'Hollywood Black.' She is homeless in Washington and I approached her for a picture, as I was on a walkabout.

At first, she was a bit shy about the whole thing, so I decided to have a chat with her first. She immediately caught my accent (which, after 30 years in the US is now very faint, so props to her!). When she found out I am French, she started speaking to me in French -- just a few sentences, but with flawless pronunciation! I tried finding out how she'd learned it, but she had already moved on to another topic: fashion. She pulled out sections of newspaper with attires she found appealing and we discussed colors: purple is her favorite at the moment.

A lovely lady altogether, with an intriguing past, I'm sure.
